Dubai CommerCity, the pioneering and foremost free zone exclusively devoted to digital commerce, and a collaborative venture between the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) and Wasl Properties, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with eBay, a globally renowned e-commerce entity. This MoU is designed to create a cooperative framework aimed at fostering the business expansion of enterprises operating within Dubai CommerCity, enhancing their sales, and broadening their market reach through eBay’s online platforms.

Through this partnership, companies situated in Dubai CommerCity will gain access to international sellers via eBay’s marketplaces. They will also benefit from specialized training programs and seminars conducted by eBay experts, focusing on digital trade export solutions, best practices, and strategies to maximize export opportunities through digital retail. Furthermore, companies will receive a complimentary three-month eBay Basic store subscription, among other features tailored to boost their growth and extend their global footprint.

In return, Dubai CommerCity will actively support eBay by encouraging its member companies to engage in the workshops, seminars, and educational events organized by eBay. It will also provide the requisite infrastructure to facilitate these initiatives. Additionally, Dubai CommerCity will offer comprehensive support to users of the eBay digital platform who are interested in establishing their business in Dubai.

The collaboration was formalized during an official ceremony at the Dubai CommerCity headquarters, where Abdulrahman Shaheen, executive vice president of operations at Dubai CommerCity, and Ashish Chhabra, vice-president and general manager of global verticals at eBay, signed the MoU in the presence of representatives from both entities. Shaheen expressed optimism, stating that the partnership with eBay will substantially enhance the digital presence of companies within Dubai CommerCity, unlocking new growth and investment opportunities. He emphasized that this cooperation aligns with their mission to facilitate business operations across various sectors and drive the growth of companies in the region.

Chhabra echoed these sentiments, highlighting that eBay’s primary focus in the UAE is to empower local retailers to sell to the world through their marketplace, connecting them with 132 million active buyers across 190 countries. He noted that the collaboration with Dubai CommerCity, the first free zone dedicated to digital commerce in the region, will enhance the supply of high-demand auto parts and luxury products from the UAE, leveraging eBay’s technology and infrastructure to support growth and reshape the digital commerce landscape.
