Divers from the Maritime Rescue Department at Dubai Ports Police Station, in collaboration with the General Department of Transport and Rescue, successfully retrieved a cargo vehicle that had plunged off the wharf in the Al Hamriya area. The incident occurred due to the driver's negligence in adhering to proper safety protocols while parking the vehicle. Colonel Ali Abdullah Al Qusib Al Naqbi, Deputy Director of the Ports Police Station, detailed that the driver had stepped out of the vehicle to converse with friends without taking essential safety measures, causing the vehicle to roll and fall off the wharf. Al Naqbi pointed out that the driver neglected to shift the transmission to 'Park' (P) and failed to properly engage the handbrake, leading to the vehicle's descent into the sea. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although the vehicle, laden with watermelons, was submerged.

Al Naqbi emphasized that maritime rescue patrols, backed by marine security patrols and a team from the local maritime unit, promptly responded to the emergency. 'Divers descended to the seabed, secured the vehicle with ropes connected to a crane from the General Department of Transport and Rescue, and successfully lifted it back onto the wharf,' he explained. Al Naqbi urged drivers to adhere to all necessary safety measures when parking their vehicles, ensuring they are fully secured before exiting. He also stressed the importance of regularly checking the mechanical condition of vehicles, exercising caution while driving, and strictly following traffic laws and regulations.

He further encouraged the public to reach out to the General Operations Department's Command and Control Centre at 999 in emergencies or the 901 call centre for non-emergency situations. Additionally, he advised maritime users to utilize the 'Sail Safely' service, which aids in reporting incidents and pinpointing locations, wishing everyone safety and security.
