Dubai Duty Free revealed on Wednesday that it has achieved sales of $1.94 billion up to the end of November, positioning it to surpass its annual target of over $2 billion. The airport retailer concluded November with sales of $205.67 million, marking the fifth-highest monthly sales in its history, with previous peaks typically occurring in December, its anniversary month. November 30 recorded the highest daily sales of the year at $8.46 million, while November 29 ranked third with sales of $8.24 million.
Dubai Duty Free Managing Director Ramesh Cidambi expressed satisfaction with the November performance, despite challenging trading conditions, including lower sales in major fashion brand boutiques and ongoing refurbishments in Arrivals shops across all three terminals. Cidambi highlighted the significant efforts made to close the gap between budgeted and actual passenger spending. He anticipates a strong December, buoyed by the holiday season, and expects to end the year on a high note.
Perfumes, beverages, tobacco, gold, and electronics were the top-selling categories from January to November. Perfume sales surged 10% to $362 million, while liquor sales totaled $258.37 million. Tobacco sales rose 8% to $200.52 million, and gold sales increased 2% to $194.57 million. Electronics rounded out the top five with sales of $134 million.
Dubai Duty Free is preparing for a bustling festive season in December, including its 41st anniversary on December 20, when it will offer a 25% discount on a wide range of products both in-store and online.
