Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has given the green light to the master plan for the expansion of the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City. The plan aims to boost the exhibition space from 58,000 sqm to 180,000 sqm, and the number of annual events from 300 to 600. By 2031, the venue is projected to become the largest indoor exhibition and events destination in the region, with a total built-up area exceeding 1 million sqm. The external exhibition plaza will span 22,000 sqm, while retail and F&B spaces will cover 7,000 sqm, and office areas will extend over 8,000 sqm. The centre will stretch 1.2km and accommodate up to 65,000 visitors daily. A multi-storey parking facility with over 5,000 spaces will provide direct access to the venue, and a 300-key hotel spanning more than 35,000 sqm will also be part of the development. The economic impact of this hub is anticipated to range between Dh18 billion and Dh54 billion annually by 2033. This expansion aligns with the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
