Dubai's delivery riders will soon have access to air-to-water dispensers capable of producing approximately 100 liters of potable water daily. Under a new collaboration between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Group, the initial phase of this project will install three such dispensers in the rest areas designated for delivery riders. These dispensers operate at a temperature of 30ºC and 65% humidity, utilizing technology that harnesses atmospheric moisture to generate drinking water.
This initiative complements RTA's ongoing program to build 40 air-conditioned rest stops for delivery personnel. This partnership is anticipated to bolster the safety of the burgeoning delivery industry and enhance the welfare of delivery drivers. Several rest areas have already been completed, with the construction of the remaining ones planned in three phases.
"This eco-friendly solution not only ensures the availability of safe drinking water for delivery motorbike drivers but also contributes to lowering the environmental impact," remarked Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of the licensing agency that signed the agreement for RTA. Majid Al Futtaim's role in providing safe drinking water is vital for the health and well-being of delivery drivers who work long hours outdoors.
