‘Smart’ inspection vehicles are now tasked with monitoring and detecting violations, restricted activities, and damages within the Dubai Metro and Tram networks. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated the trial operation of these vehicles, which are equipped with cameras and utilize “advanced intelligence systems” to detect rail right-of-way areas.

Abdulrahman Al Janahi, the director of Rail Right of Way, emphasized that these smart vehicles will play a crucial role in safeguarding Dubai's rail infrastructure. “This technology not only enhances the efficiency of our inspections but also enables us to swiftly identify and resolve any issues, thereby ensuring the safety and reliability of our rail services. The smart inspection vehicle leverages artificial intelligence to stay abreast of advancements in the rail network.”

The initiative is designed to achieve comprehensive coverage of inspection areas, double the speed of report preparation, and ensure the accuracy of outputs. It also aims to minimize human errors during the inspection process and provide robust support for informed decision-making.
