In a bid to enhance road safety on the first day of school in Dubai, authorities have urged motorists to strictly follow traffic laws and regulations on August 26 as part of the 'A Day Without Accidents' campaign. Brig Jumaa bin Suwaidan, the acting director of the General Department of Traffic, highlighted that the campaign "aligns with Dubai Police's vision of a secure city, promoting awareness campaigns and traffic initiatives designed to ensure the highest levels of safety for all road users and to encourage drivers to diligently follow instructions and safety guidelines." Motorists are advised to adhere to speed limits, particularly near schools, avoid distractions such as mobile phone use, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, prioritize pedestrians crossing the road, and yield to emergency vehicles. He also mentioned that the police aim to boost traffic awareness among the public and encourage adherence to traffic instructions on the first day of the school year through the 'A Day Without Accidents' campaign. "By signing the initiative's pledge, participants commit to avoiding any traffic violations or accidents on the first day of school. Those who successfully complete the day without incidents will receive a traffic certificate of compliance and the chance to remove four black points from their driving license. They can register and participate in the campaign through the official website of the Ministry of Interior (https://portal.moi.gov.ae/eservices/direct?scode=716&c=1)," he added.
