In Dubai, over 600 workers received cold water and juice as part of the Soqia initiative, which translates to 'water aid'. This initiative was launched by the General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police to combat the summer heat and foster a sense of compassion and generosity among the community.
This program is one of many community initiatives by the department, emphasizing the importance of brotherhood and humanity. Major Hamad Al Shamsi, Head of the Workers' Rights Section, highlighted the department's commitment to supporting and assisting others.
As temperatures soar, the UAE has introduced various initiatives for outdoor workers, including health checkups, rest areas, free ice cream, and mandatory midday breaks. Additionally, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) recently initiated 'The Water Aid Initiative', aimed at aiding underprivileged families and laborers engaged in strenuous work during the heatwave.
The initiative locally provides health checkups and distributes umbrellas and water containers. On an international scale, ERC plans to drill wells and supply water tanks and atmospheric water generators.
