Dubai Municipality's food safety inspection teams conducted approximately 18,374 inspections at various food establishments in Dubai's markets during the first half of 2024. These inspections covered a wide range of sectors including restaurants, hotels, cafes, commercial centers, hypermarkets, and supermarkets. The primary goal was to ensure compliance with standards related to consumer products, food safety, health, and general safety, as well as adherence to approved environmental standards.
The inspection campaigns also extended to shisha cafes, hair salons, beauty centers, worker's houses, and societal markets across Dubai. "Dubai Municipality places significant emphasis on the food, environment, and safety sectors. We continuously work to improve these sectors and enhance safety through monitoring to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality of life in the Emirate," said Dr. Naseem Mohammad Rafee, Acting CEO of Environment, Health & Safety Agency at Dubai Municipality.
Additionally, the Municipality aims to provide a state-of-the-art infrastructure that supports business and initiative growth while ensuring strict compliance with all laws, regulations, and guidelines enacted in Dubai and the UAE. The Municipality conducted a total of 52,233 inspection visits in the areas of environment, health, and food during the first half of 2024. Health and safety teams carried out 26,566 inspection visits across six campaigns targeting hotel facilities, shisha cafes, hair salons, and worker's houses, among others.
Approximately 4,331 inspection visits were organized to monitor the safety and sustainability of the maritime environment, nature reserves, and industrial facilities. Furthermore, 2,962 inspection visits were conducted at abattoirs, veterinary organizations, and General Health Pest Control companies.
