Dubai has declared free parking timings for residents and visitors during the UAE's National Day holiday. All public parking will be free (excluding multi-storey parking) from Monday, December 2, until the end of Tuesday, December 3. This means a three-day free parking period, as Sunday is designated as a weekend in Dubai, where motorists do not pay parking fees. Most residents will enjoy a four-day weekend this year, as the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced a National Day holiday on December 2 and 3 for both the private and public sectors. Regular working hours at ministries and federal entities will resume on Wednesday, December 4.

In Sharjah, government employees will have a five-day weekend. Since the official weekend in the emirate is from Friday to Sunday, public sector employees will benefit from a five-day break. Earlier, Dubai announced the National Day break for private school students in the city. All private schools, nurseries, and universities will be closed on December 2 and 3, with classes resuming on Wednesday, December 4. The UAE celebrates National Day, now known as Eid Al Etihad, on December 2 each year to commemorate the unification of the Emirates in 1971. This year, the country marks its 53rd anniversary. The official Eid Al Etihad celebrations, typically attended by the country's leaders, will take place in the 'breathtaking natural landscapes' of Al Ain.
