Dubai Police have apprehended William Pereira Rogato, a Brazilian national, who is listed on the Interpol Red Notice for his involvement in fraud in his home country, as per a social media post by the authority.
Rogato manipulated the outcomes of football matches and exploited these to achieve illegal profits through bets placed on international sports betting platforms. Dubai Police confirmed that the arrest of the 34-year-old Rogato occurred after he entered the country from a European nation for a visit.
Colonel Tariq Hilal Al Suwaidi, Director of the Wanted Persons Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigations, emphasized that the capture of the internationally sought suspect is part of their commitment to fostering cooperation and coordination with law enforcement agencies worldwide. This effort aims to combat transnational organized crime in all its forms and to build a robust global security system focused on crime prevention and the exchange of successful security practices and experiences, thereby enhancing security and safety in communities.
