Dubai Police issued fines of up to Dh5,000 after registering 160 violations against jet ski owners. Additionally, 52 offences were recorded against owners of other maritime vessels over the past two months. Violations ranged from operating jet skis with expired licenses to entering restricted zones such as swimming areas and hotel beaches, operating outside designated times, not wearing life jackets, allowing underage individuals to operate the vessels, and overloading.
This information was shared in a press release by Brigadier Dr. Hassan Suhail, Director of the Port Police Station, who detailed that these violations were issued across various beach areas in Dubai. He emphasized that a Dh1,000 fine is imposed for driving a jet ski with an expired license, while a Dh2,000 fine is levied for unauthorized usage times. Furthermore, jet ski riders caught in prohibited areas within the emirate face a penalty of up to Dh5,000.
Brig Suhail also warned against overloading watercraft to ensure user safety, noting a Dh3,000 fine for not wearing the mandatory safety gear on a watercraft.
