Dubai Police convened its inaugural meeting on Thursday to deliberate on preparations for the forthcoming New Year's Eve festivities. A senior official underscored that New Year's Eve is among Dubai's most prominent events, drawing international media coverage and placing the Burj Khalifa in the global spotlight alongside other major city celebrations.
The gathering centered on enhancing security protocols and revising strategies based on past experiences to accommodate the event's magnitude and breadth. Committee members assessed previous accomplishments and pinpointed areas for enhancement to ensure smooth operations, with a focus on resolving past obstacles.
Discussions also encompassed the configuration of public viewing areas, ingress and egress points, parking facilities, and transportation routes, all designed to effectively manage the influx of families and individuals attending the annual fireworks spectacle.
Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, assistant commander-in-chief for operations and chair of Dubai's Events Security Committee, stated, "The event is poised to showcase dazzling light shows, fireworks, and festivities, attracting hundreds of thousands of on-site spectators and millions more globally."
The Dubai New Year's Eve Security Committee held its first meeting at the Joint Operations Centre near Burj Khalifa. Mishal Abdul Karim Julfar, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and representatives from various Dubai government entities were in attendance.
Major General Al Ghaithi encouraged all event personnel to embody patience, professionalism, and hospitality to enrich visitors' experiences and reflect Dubai's hospitable nature. He also lauded the committee for its continuous development and unity, observing the team's growing proficiency and success in overseeing major events throughout Dubai.
