Dubai Police came to the rescue of a motorist whose cruise control malfunctioned, rendering them unable to control their vehicle. The motorist, realizing the dire situation, promptly called the emergency number seeking urgent assistance. Dubai Police's traffic patrol responded swiftly, arriving at the scene within minutes and securing the area around the vehicle.
Maj-Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, acting assistant commandant for operations affairs, provided details of the incident, stating, "The traffic patrols were immediately dispatched to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and located the vehicle just past the Expo Bridge." He further explained, "Given the significant risk posed by the vehicle on the high-speed road, the patrols quickly cordoned off the area around it and activated warning signs for other drivers. They then focused on calming the visibly distressed driver. One patrol positioned itself in front of the vehicle and began to gradually slow it down, while the other patrols secured the lane behind it."
Maj-Gen Al Mazrouei emphasized the importance of remaining calm and not panicking in such situations. He advised motorists to ensure their seatbelt is fastened, turn on their hazard lights and headlights, and immediately contact the emergency number (999) to report the situation if they encounter a cruise control malfunction.
