The Dubai Police, in partnership with various organizations, provided water, cold beverages, meals, and sunshades to 300 workers. This initiative was part of the authority's "Positive Spirit" program, in conjunction with the "Good Umbrella 2" and "Dubai Water Aid" campaigns. These supplies were distributed to workers in the Al Quoz area during the summer heat. UAE authorities often supply food, water, and other necessities to workers to assist them in dealing with heat exhaustion throughout the hot season. This included the highly appreciated Al Freej Fridge initiative, which lasted until August 23, distributing over 35,000 ice creams and juices daily to workers. Air-conditioned rest areas were also established, where delivery riders could pray and watch movies, offering a much-needed respite for those who previously had difficulty finding a break spot between deliveries, as one delivery driver shared with Khaleej Times.
Furthermore, the UAE government has enforced a midday break from June 15 to September 15. It is illegal to work under direct sunlight or in open areas between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM. Companies violating this midday break rule will face fines of Dh5,000 per employee, with penalties escalating to Dh50,000 if multiple employees are found working during the break period.
