Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Friday that commuters can now carry certain e-scooters on the Metro and Tram. Specifically, foldable e-scooters without seats are allowed at all operational times, provided they meet specific size and weight requirements. These e-scooters must fit within the dimensions of 120cm x 70cm x 40cm and weigh no more than 20kg.
The RTA clarified that while foldable e-scooters are once again permitted on metro trains, they must adhere to the newly outlined rules. This decision comes after a previous ban on e-scooters inside the Metro and Tram, which was implemented from March 1 to ensure passenger safety. On February 29, the authority had prohibited commuters from carrying their last-mile transport within these facilities.
