In the evening, both residents and visitors in Dubai can cycle or ride e-scooters with clear visibility and on safe pathways. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has finished maintaining 2,173 lighting units across four tracks dedicated to cycling and e-scooter activities. These tracks are located in Al Qudra, Jumeirah, Nad Al Sheba, and Mirdif & Mushrif.
Abdullah Lootah, the Director of Roads and Facilities Maintenance at the Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, stated: "The RTA is committed to providing all necessary facilities and infrastructure to ensure the public can enjoy their hobbies and sports on these tracks." Maintenance activities are not only based on field inspector reports but also incorporate feedback from the RTA’s Call Centre and Madinat service within the RTA App, along with reports from government entity partners, Lootah noted, appreciating the efforts of community members and RTA’s partners.
Lootah further explained that the RTA performs maintenance of lighting units on cycling and e-scooter tracks according to annual plans, which are split into two categories: preventive maintenance, which includes checking the operational status of lighting poles, cleaning, lubricating, and ensuring the integrity of all electrical connections, and corrective maintenance, which is implemented only when there is a malfunction in the lighting network.
