Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new feature allowing some motorists to renew their driving licenses and vehicle registrations via their mobile phones, as announced on Tuesday, July 2. Samsung users can now directly add their vehicle registration and driving license details to their Samsung Wallet using the RTA app.

In May, the RTA launched an updated version of its official app, which simplifies access to its services. The integration of these services eliminates the need for multiple apps and offers a centralized platform for managing essential transportation documents. The new app version features a personalized dashboard that consolidates all services into a single screen for easy and convenient navigation, making it simpler for users to renew their vehicle and driving licenses and purchase parking tickets.

Meera Al Shaikh, Director of Smart Services at RTA, emphasized that all data is maintained with the highest standards of security and privacy, reflecting the commitment of both RTA and Samsung to protect user trust. She also highlighted the potential of smartphones to revolutionize urban mobility and support Dubai's vision of becoming the smartest city in the world. Fadi Abu Shamat, Head of Mobile Experience Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, added that the integration is backed by the robust military-grade Knox security suite, ensuring a strong focus on security and consumer data privacy.

Last October, RTA introduced digital nolPay for Samsung users, enabling them to use their smartphones or smartwatches to pay for Dubai Metro rides and other public transport services. The digital Nol card is also accepted at various retail outlets, groceries, public parks, museums, and more.
