The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai revealed on Wednesday that over 4,000 individuals have been interviewed by various companies within the first two weeks of the amnesty program. Out of these, 58 individuals have secured employment that aligns with their qualifications and experience, while efforts to regularize the status of others continue. GDRFA emphasized that the initiative is designed to regularize the status of residency violators in the country. "Integrating job opportunities within this initiative marks a crucial step that fosters social cohesion and supports the economic empowerment of individuals, thereby contributing to a more prosperous and stable society," GDRFA added. The amnesty program, which runs from September 1 to October 30, offers visa violators staying illegally in the country a chance for a better future. Under the scheme, they can either legalize their stay in the UAE or leave without facing bans, fines, or fees. Illegal expatriates wishing to remain in the country must present a work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, as confirmed by a senior official from GDRFA to Khaleej Times. To streamline the job search process, several companies have conducted on-the-spot interviews at the Al Awir tent. In Dubai, all Amer centers and the GDRFA center in Al Awir will provide amnesty services. In Abu Dhabi, ICP centers are situated in Al Dhafra, Suwaihan, Al Maqa, and Al Shahama. Overstayers can also apply at ICP centers across the UAE, approved typing centers, and through online channels.
