Male and female inmates in Dubai have been supported by the Punitive and Correctional Institutions, which provided them with financial and in-kind assistance totaling Dh4,626,940 during the first half of this year. These efforts are designed to enhance the quality of life for inmates, embodying the values of tolerance and brotherhood that are deeply ingrained in Emirati society. For these initiatives, charitable institutions and organizations play a crucial role in aiding prisoners and their families.
Brigadier Salah Juma Bu Osaiba, Acting Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions, expressed gratitude to the donors who supported the charitable programs of penal and correctional institutions. Colonel Abdullah Yaqoub Al Khedher, Acting Deputy Director of the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Institutions, emphasized the significant role of the Humanitarian Care Department in addressing various issues faced by inmates of different nationalities. He praised their efforts in improving the lives of inmates and alleviating their distress through collaboration with community philanthropists, institutions, and charitable organizations.
Meanwhile, Captain Habib Hussein Mohammed Al Zarouni, Head of the Humanitarian Care Department, noted that the department has conducted field visits to numerous charitable organizations to explore ways to enhance cooperation in resolving inmates' humanitarian issues. The department also supports the families of inmates who are struggling due to the incarceration of their family members, helping to maintain the cohesion and solidarity of these families. Additionally, the department acts as a mediator in financial disputes involving inmates, facilitates the deportation of inmates who cannot afford travel costs, and upholds the principles of inmate rights as established by Dubai Police, grounded in religious and humanitarian values.
