The 14th Global Transport and Transportation Technology Conference and Exhibition, InnoTrans 2024, kicked off in Berlin under the theme “The Future of Mobility.” For the sixth consecutive time, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is participating in this esteemed international event, showcasing its pivotal projects and initiatives through a dedicated stand. Among the highlighted projects are the Dubai Metro Blue Line, suspended transport systems, smart metro stations, a metro rail inspection development system, passenger flow monitoring in metro stations and carriages, and the unified nol card system for fare payments across different transport modes.
This year’s edition is the largest in the conference’s history, drawing over 137,000 participants and visitors. More than 2,900 institutions and companies from 59 countries are exhibiting their latest innovations. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of RTA, led the Dubai delegation. Al Tayer toured various exhibition stands, focusing on advanced solutions in integrated mobility, digital transformation of train infrastructure, and innovations aimed at increasing train capacity without expanding infrastructure areas. He also explored advancements in customer service solutions.
During his tour, Al Tayer visited the stand of the Spanish firm CAF, where he was briefed on emission-free transportation solutions promoting well-being and sustainability. He also explored the platform of the Chinese company CRRC, which provides comprehensive rail solutions for both passenger and freight transportation. At RTA’s stand, key projects were on display, including the Dubai Metro Blue Line, which spans 30 km with 14 stations, featuring three transfer stations, one of which is the largest in the metro network, covering over 44,000 square meters.
RTA’s stand also featured suspended transport systems, smart metro stations, a railway infrastructure inspection development system, and strategies for crowd management during major events. These initiatives are supported by a passenger flow monitoring system in metro stations and carriages, along with the fare payment system at metro and tram stations. On the sidelines of the conference, Al Tayer held several meetings. He met with Marie-Ange Dupont, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Keolis, to discuss ongoing and future strategic cooperation. He also met with Mohamed Mezghani, Secretary-General of the International Association of Public Transport, discussing RTA’s participation in the 2025 Public Transport Summit in Hamburg and plans to host the summit in 2026.
Al Tayer emphasized: “RTA’s participation in the InnoTrans 2024 Exhibition and Conference, the world’s premier event for train technology, aligns with our commitment to staying abreast of rapid advancements in train manufacturing technology. It provides us with the opportunity to explore global expertise and best practices in implementing, operating, and maintaining public transport systems, as well as the latest security and safety measures in metro networks.”
