Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed a significant upgrade of its metro fleet, which includes the refurbishment of 79 trains as part of its annual preventive maintenance program. These refurbished trains have cumulatively traveled over 1.5 million kilometers since the inception of the Dubai Metro, and the maintenance efforts have achieved an outstanding 99.7 percent train availability and punctuality rate. In addition to the train refurbishments, RTA conducted rail grinding along both the Red and Green Lines, covering a total of 189 kilometers of track. This process removes surface defects and restores the tracks to their original specifications, thereby extending their lifespan and ensuring smoother, safer journeys for passengers.

The upgrades are designed not only to enhance service quality but also to minimize the need for corrective maintenance in the future, aiding in the reduction of long-term operational costs and increasing efficiency. Hassan Al Mutawa, the director of Rail Maintenance at RTA's Rail Agency, emphasized: "The preventive maintenance program is a cornerstone of our dedication to operational excellence and sustainability for the Dubai Metro. Through initiatives such as rail grinding and the refurbishment of the train fleet, we consistently ensure the safety, efficiency, and reliability of the entire network."

"These measures not only enhance infrastructure sustainability and reduce costs but also uphold environmental responsibility, aligning with our vision for a carbon-free future. Our objective is not merely to meet global standards but to establish new benchmarks for urban transportation, offering passengers a safe, comfortable, and reliable travel experience," he added.
