Dubai's leader, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, expressed sorrow over the death of respected Islamic scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Ali, on Monday. The Ruler praised him as a prominent scholar in Dubai and extended condolences following his passing on July 15. On X, the leader posted emotionally: "Numerous students graduated under his guidance. He authored over 70 books on Islamic law. He initiated numerous charitable endeavors. His assembly was abundant with virtue, Islamic knowledge, and engagement with the community."

"May God grant him mercy and place him in expansive gardens, and bestow patience and comfort to his family and loved ones," the leader added. In 2016, at the age of 96, the scholar was honored as the Dubai Quran Award's Islamic personality of the year. Born in 1920, Sheikh Muhammad Ali bin Al Sheikh Abdurrahman Sultan Al Ulama graduated from Al Azhar University in Cairo. He taught Arabic and Islamic sciences at Sultan Al Ulama School for Religious Sciences for 40 years. His publications include an 11-part Quran commentary. Throughout his life, he spearheaded more than 200 charitable projects.
