Travel times in school zones across Dubai have decreased by 15 to 20 percent, thanks to significant road enhancements that encompassed 37 schools, as reported by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Tuesday.

The RTA expanded streets leading to these schools, added more parking spots for staff and parents, enhanced school entry and exit points, and introduced traffic diversions in adjacent areas. Additionally, the authority paved parking areas in front of schools and designated specific zones to ensure the safe drop-off and pick-up of students.

According to the RTA, these upgrades are part of a larger strategy to boost the efficiency of the road network, particularly in school zones, in line with the city's ongoing urban expansion. "The improvements are aimed at benefiting all road users, including teaching staff, bus drivers, and students' families, ensuring the safety of everyone on the roads in Dubai," the authority stated.

The completed projects focused on several critical areas, such as Kings' School Dubai on Umm Suqeim Street, The International School of Choueifat and Dubai College on Hessa Street, Al Safa Schools Complex, School of Research Science in Al Warqa 4, Al Qusais Schools Complex, Al Mizhar Schools Complex, Nad Al Sheba Schools Complex, and Al Tawar Schools Complex 2.

Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, commented: "These traffic enhancements have not only improved the road network but also maintained the quality and efficiency of Dubai's infrastructure. They underscore RTA's dedication to implementing leadership directives and addressing the needs of Dubai's growing population and urban development."
