As the new academic year commenced, schools in Dubai witnessed over 80 percent attendance, with some starting fresh and others resuming their second term on Monday. Indian curriculum schools initiated a new term, and most students from various educational programs returned to their campuses following a nearly two-month summer hiatus. Educational institutions had meticulously planned various interactive activities to foster connections between students and teachers.
Rashmi Nandkeolyar, Principal and Director of Delhi Private School, noted, "The first day of our second term was characterized by good attendance and manageable traffic, with a remarkable 95 percent turnout. Teachers, having prepared diligently in the preceding week, ensured a smooth and inviting start. Students enthusiastically engaged in a range of stimulating activities to kick off the new term."
Senior students at the school discussed their internship experiences, exchanged summer anecdotes, photos, and set objectives for the upcoming term. Some schools incorporated creative activities such as displaying holiday memorabilia, making crowns, and participating in interactive games.
Nandkeolyar further commented, "Adjusting our body clocks has been somewhat challenging. Despite sending letters to parents encouraging early rising before the holidays, some students were still drowsy." School principals across Dubai reported a smooth beginning to the new term, welcoming numerous new students into their communities.
Sangita Chima, Principal of Amity School Dubai, remarked, "We were pleasantly surprised by the 75 percent attendance on the first day. Students relished sharing their holiday experiences and participated in ice-breaking activities like scavenger hunts, chalk talks, and games such as Olympic bingo." Chima added, "We also enjoyed a 'jar of dreams' activity to kick off the year, and students received a high-tech welcome from 'robo dogs.'"
Ian Plant, Principal/CEO of GEMS Founders School – Dubai South, expressed, "The first day attendance was outstanding. I am thrilled to welcome our founding parents and over 500 students for the 2024-25 academic year. It is deeply gratifying to see so many families entrusting us as the pioneering school in Dubai South to serve this burgeoning community." He continued, "Our operations started incredibly smoothly, with both parent transportation and STS bus services running efficiently. The positive feedback from parents underscores the effectiveness of our meticulous planning and execution, marking an excellent start to the academic year."
