Dubai is set to expand its fruit and vegetable market twofold as part of its forthcoming major logistics initiative. Collaborating on this venture are two key players: Dubai Municipality and DP World, who aim to establish the world's premier logistics center for food commodities, fruits, and vegetables. This ambitious project was unveiled on Wednesday by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance of the UAE. The objective, as stated by Sheikh Maktoum, is to transform Dubai into a hub for marketplaces, exports, and re-exports across various sectors for both the region and the globe.

"Our aim is to furnish state-of-the-art infrastructure and amenities conforming to the highest specifications and standards, thereby fostering enhanced commercial and investment prospects for stakeholders, and bolstering the UAE's strategy for food security," Sheikh Maktoum articulated. The enlargement of the fruit and vegetable market, to be overseen by DP World, is anticipated to generate additional investment avenues. In line with the agreement inked by the two entities, a consolidated trade portal will be implemented to streamline all processes and customer experiences.
