Just over a year ago, Eccentrica Cars revealed its plans to create a Lamborghini Diablo restomod. The announcement was accompanied by a series of computer-generated images depicting a sleek yet hypothetical Diablo. Today, the company has fulfilled its promise with the introduction of the Eccentrica V12, a 'fully operational vehicle' showcased at The Quail.
Visually, the Eccentrica V12 closely resembles the Diablo. The vehicle features 19-inch wheels, which are notably contemporary, and the previously proposed 'pop-down' headlights have been replaced with traditional pop-ups, situated above a sharply designed front end equipped with integrated LED running lights. Notable exterior modifications include redesigned vents, widened front wheel arches with side skirts, and a new engine hood, contributing to a polished overall appearance.
Inside, the cabin blends the classic Diablo's aesthetics with modern amenities such as a digital driver's display and an infotainment system that spans almost to the dashboard's center. The center console houses various switches and buttons, along with a traditional gated manual gear lever, which, however, operates an updated six-speed manual transmission with revised gear ratios driving the rear wheels.
Under the hood, the Eccentrica V12 is powered by an enhanced 5.7-liter Lamborghini V-12 engine, featuring upgraded camshafts, an electronic throttle body, and a new flywheel. The vehicle also boasts a custom center-exit exhaust system, resulting in a peak output of 550 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Eccentrica claims that the engine delivers smoother and more progressive power compared to the original Diablo, though the implications of this improvement remain uncertain.
The chassis and suspension have also been upgraded, incorporating active dampers and a front-lift system to navigate speed bumps more easily. The vehicle includes composite reinforcements, although specific details remain undisclosed. It is equipped with Brembo brakes and features standard power steering.
Eccentrica Founder and President Emanuel Colombini expressed, 'The Eccentrica V12 is a personal passion project, stemming from my deep admiration for the Lamborghini Diablo. While I hold the original design in high regard, my goal was to elevate the driving experience. The result is a car that pushes the boundaries of technology and performance.'
If all proceeds as planned, the 19 planned units of the Eccentrica V12 will commence delivery in the summer of 2025.
