Expo City Dubai served as a vibrant setting for Eco Walk 2024, bringing together hundreds of participants from across the UAE in a strong display of environmental dedication and community unity. Eco Walk 2024 was an inspiring and impactful event, uniting leaders, community members, and environmental advocates. The day was filled with significant discussions, powerful messages, and a collective commitment to a sustainable future. Held at Al Forsan Park, the event highlighted the UAE's green vision, supported by the nation’s new “Plant the Emirates” initiative.
Eco Walk 2024 featured the distribution of 1,000 plants and the goal of planting 2,000 Ghaf trees, symbols of resilience and environmental commitment. With 5,000 Ghaf seeds distributed, attendees were encouraged to extend this movement into their own communities. Eco Walk celebrates environmental awareness, aligning with the UAE's sustainability goals launched at COP28 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on responsible consumption, climate action, and partnerships.
Juhi Yasmeen Khan, founder of Eco Walk, stated: “Eco Walk 2024 is a call to every individual, organization, and community in the UAE to unite for a sustainable future. Each tree planted and each step taken brings us closer to realizing the UAE's green vision, inspiring future generations to embrace environmental responsibility. Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, former minister of Climate Change and Environment and current chairman of the Sharjah Consultative Council, attended as the chief guest. His keynote address inspired a renewed passion for environmental and climate action, emphasizing the urgency of our shared mission. Dr Al Nuaimi expressed optimism for the future, stating: “Eco Walk reflects our national commitment to a sustainable future. It is inspiring to see people from all walks of life join hands, making climate action a shared responsibility. Together, we are planting trees and sowing seeds for a brighter, greener UAE.”
In a symbolic gesture, Dr Al Nuaimi participated in the plantation ceremony, planting a UAE National Ghaf tree alongside government officials. He also signed the pledge wall, reinforcing his legacy in environmental advocacy. His actions and interactions with attendees left a lasting impact, inspiring all through his leadership and kind gestures.
Mohammad Mustafa, youth ambassador and co-founder of Eco Walk, reflected on the event’s success: “As young leaders, we have the power and responsibility to shape a sustainable tomorrow. Eco Walk 2024 provides a platform for us to take tangible steps toward a greener future and inspire others to do the same. Today’s turnout and the enthusiasm shown by each participant reflect our collective desire to make a lasting, positive impact on the planet.”
Eco Walk 2024 included impactful activities such as the Dubai Police School Parade, community and government unity for a greener tomorrow, historic Ghaf plantation, Dubai Ambulance first aid workshops, volunteer and marshal support, sustainable waste management, eco-friendly features, free medical check-ups, and awards and recognition.
