Are you relocating within Dubai? Prior to your move, there are several tasks to handle, including managing your utility connections. You don't need to terminate your Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) account at your current location and set up a new one at your new residence. This can be efficiently managed through DEWA's 'Move To' service, which requires just a few taps or clicks. Additionally, you won't incur any extra security deposit unless you're moving from an apartment to a villa, as the deposit amounts differ between apartments and villas.

Here's a step-by-step guide on using the Move To service:

How to apply: You can apply via the DEWA website (www.dewa.gov.ae) or the DEWA Smart App. Alternatively, you can apply through DEWA’s Customer Care Centre at 04-6019999, but this option is limited to Interactive Voice Response (IVR) if Ejari is available, there are no outstanding amounts on your account, and the move is within the same type of premises without a change in security deposit (from villa to villa or from flat to flat). You can also apply through real estate management companies and Dubai Land Department authorized offices once your Ejari is activated.

Requirements: You'll need the contract account number of your current residence, the planned move-out date, the number of your new premises, and a valid Ejari number for your new residence.

Procedure: Clear any outstanding dues for your current premises before applying for the Move To service. You may need to pay the security deposit if required, then submit your Move To request. You'll receive a notification number via SMS and/or email to track your request. Once processed, your electricity and water supply will be connected to your new premises, and disconnected from your old one on the specified date. You'll receive the final bill for your old premises.

Fees: For deactivating services at your old premises, you'll pay Dh100 for small meters and Dh300 for large meters, plus Dh10 each for knowledge and innovation fees. For activating services at your new premises, the fees are the same, plus Dh10 for registration. Security deposit requirements remain the same unless moving from a flat to a villa.

How long will the process take? Disconnection at your old premises will occur within 24 working hours of your selected date, and connection at your new premises will take 15 working hours from the payment/transfer of any required security deposit.
