Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have reportedly relocated to the UK in the wake of Donald Trump's recent election victory. The 66-year-old comedian and the 51-year-old actress, known for her role in 'Arrested Development,' are preparing to list their expansive Montecito, California, estate for sale as they seek a fresh start abroad, according to sources who spoke with The Wrap. The couple, who married in 2008, may not return to the US permanently, the insider suggests.

Separate sources informed TMZ that DeGeneres and de Rossi decided to leave the country immediately after Trump's victory over Kamala Harris, feeling deeply disillusioned. The former talk show host was a vocal supporter of Harris and reportedly contributed $3,300 to her campaign. In August, DeGeneres publicly endorsed Harris on Instagram, stating, 'There's nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can't wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president.'

With an estimated net worth of $370 million, DeGeneres has built an extensive real estate portfolio over the years. Their most recent acquisition was a Montecito property purchased in 2019 for $27 million, where they lived next door to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The couple is now reportedly residing in the Cotswolds in South West England, a region known for its high cost of living and celebrity residents, including David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley, and Jeremy Clarkson. The area is also home to royalty, with King Charles and Queen Camilla owning Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.

DeGeneres and de Rossi have already begun to settle into their new life in the UK. Last week, they were spotted visiting Clarkson's pub, The Farmer's Dog. In a video shared by Clarkson's girlfriend Lisa Hogan on Instagram, the couple was seen enjoying drinks and live music at the rustic pub. DeGeneres is the second high-profile celebrity to leave the US following Trump's win, with Eva Longoria also opting for a new life in Mexico and Spain.

Longoria, who spent her adult life in the US, told Marie Claire, 'I had my whole adult life here, but even before [the pandemic], it was changing. The vibe was different. And then COVID happened, and it pushed it over the edge.' She added, 'Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to s–t on California — it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.' Longoria also cited Trump's win as a reason to leave, stating, 'The shocking part is not that he won, it's that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.'
