Ellen DeGeneres has clarified the rumors circulating online about her and wife Portia de Rossi's UK home flooding. On Sunday, the 66-year-old comedian took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute to the 51-year-old 'Arrested Development' alum on their 20th anniversary. '20 years ago today we began this relationship not realizing what a long beautiful adventure this would be,' the former talk show host wrote alongside a selfie of the couple in the British countryside, where they recently relocated.
'You are the best thing that ever happened in my life. You take care of me. You help me see the good in everything. You help to guide me and pick me up when I feel off or down,' DeGeneres continued. 'You are a beautiful soul that I am so very grateful to have as a partner to navigate this crazy life with. My wife. My best friend. The love of my life. Thank you for being you and loving me.'
DeGeneres also expressed her excitement for their future travels and their first snowy Christmas together. She concluded her post by addressing the flooding rumors: 'P.S. for those of you concerned, our UK farmhouse did NOT flood.'
The couple recently purchased a multi-million pound property in the Cotswolds, about two hours outside of London, and are looking to establish a permanent residence there following Donald Trump's election win last month. However, last week the Daily Mail reported that the couple's 43-acre grounds were underwater after the River Thames broke its banks in the wake of Storm Bert. Despite numerous roads in the Cotswolds being left impassable due to five feet of water, it appears DeGeneres and de Rossi's home was unaffected.
Last month, it was revealed that the couple, who wed in 2008, relocated to England after Trump's presidential election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. Sources told the Wrap that the pair had packed up and moved across the pond in a desperate bid to start afresh. The couple will likely 'never' return to the US on a permanent basis, the report added. Separate insiders told TMZ that the duo decided to 'get the hell out' of the country immediately following the president-elect's victory, which left them feeling 'very disillusioned.'
During election season, DeGeneres was vocal about her support for Harris, reportedly even donating $3,300 to Harris' campaign. While the exact reason for choosing the Cotswolds is unclear, the region is a picturesque and wealthy part of England, with many British stars owning country houses there. Their star-studded list of neighbors includes David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, and Elizabeth Hurley. The area is also home to royalty, as King Charles and Queen Camilla own Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
