Elon Musk clarified on Wednesday that he is not involved in a romantic affair with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, addressing a joke that emerged after their mutual admiration at a black-tie event in New York this week garnered significant attention across the Atlantic. Photographs of the two individuals flooded social media after Musk presented Meloni with the Global Citizen Award from the Atlantic Council think tank on Monday. The New York Post referred to the event as a 'public love-in' between the world's wealthiest man and the first female Italian prime minister.

'I was there with my Mom. There is no romantic relationship whatsoever with PM Meloni,' Musk stated on X in response to a post featuring a photo of the two gazing affectionately at each other at a banquet table, accompanied by the humorous caption 'we all know what happened next.'

During his speech before presenting the award, Musk praised Meloni, describing her as 'someone who is even more beautiful inside than outside.' The Italian right-wing leader reciprocated by calling the U.S. entrepreneur a 'precious genius.'

Meloni, who separated from her long-term partner in 2023, specifically requested that Musk be the one to present her with the award. Additionally, the tech mogul visited Italy twice last year to meet with the Italian leader—once in June and again in December.
