Emirates' flight from Chennai to Dubai experienced a delay on Wednesday evening due to a technical issue, according to the airline. The flight, EK547, was delayed by more than two hours and landed at Dubai International Airport after midnight.

"Emirates flight EK547 from Chennai to Dubai on September 24, 2024, was delayed due to a technical fault. Following an engineering inspection, the aircraft was cleared to proceed to Dubai," an Emirates spokesperson stated in a release to Khaleej Times.

"Emirates apologises for the inconvenience caused. The safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance," the statement added. The UAE-India air corridor is among the busiest in the region, with airlines reporting a high passenger load factor, often exceeding 80-90 percent. This is largely attributed to the significant number of Indian nationals residing and working in the UAE, comprising over 35 percent of the Gulf country's population.

Moreover, Dubai draws a substantial number of tourists from India annually. Airlines in both the UAE and India have been advocating for an increase in flight numbers to manage the escalating traffic between the two nations.
