The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) organized various activations, such as complimentary golf lessons, alongside the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates. The aim was to introduce young golfers, regardless of nationality, to the sport. This initiative is in line with The R&A’s 'Unleash Your Drive in Schools' program, spearheaded by the EGF. It is also part of the Golf is Good x Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), supported by The R&A and the EGF, which commenced on October 26th at Jumeirah Golf Estates. The event featured over 135 free activities across nine venues, running until November 24th, 2024.

One of the activities at Jumeirah Golf Estates this week was a taster session supported by Dubai Al Khawaneej School. This session introduced a six-part golf program to be conducted at the school by teachers and volunteers mentored by the EGF. These sessions will take place either indoors in gyms or on small grass spaces, serving as a pathway into golf. The next stage involves advancement to supporting golf clubs, academies, and facilities.

A Golf Sixes Mini-League competition was also held, involving schools like Kings Al Barsha, Dubai Heights Academy linked with the Tommy Fleetwood Academy (TFA) at Jumeirah Golf Estates, and Jurn Yafoor School, Abu Dhabi. The format, a six-hole Texas Scramble with six players per team, was played over a short course using Golfway junior golf equipment and their mini-course layout.

General Abdullah Al Hashmi, Vice-Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation, highlighted the benefits of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, stating, 'There are vast health benefits from playing golf, and we hope to encourage people to consider it as part of their regular health and fitness routine.' Neal Graham, Golf Development Manager - Middle East and India at The R&A, emphasized the initiative's role in raising awareness about golf's health benefits and supporting national associations worldwide.

Cameron Van Rooyen, UAE National Coach, expressed gratitude to all partners and volunteers, noting the ambitious plans for junior development. The initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to inspire a fitness-focused mindset and promote a healthy lifestyle. The Golf is Good x Dubai Fitness Challenge is supported by The R&A, EGF, and Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, among others.

Golf activities will be available at various fitness hubs across Dubai until November 24th, 2024, including Dubai Creek Resort, Dubai Hills Golf Club, Emirates Golf Club, and more. For further details, visit www.dubaifitnesschallenge.com.
