The Emirates Group has maintained its recruitment momentum during the first half of the 2024-25 fiscal year, welcoming over 2,200 new employees to its varied workforce. On Thursday, the group disclosed that it had 114,610 staff members at the close of the first half of 2024-25, up from 112,406 at the end of the 2023-24 fiscal year, marking a nearly two percent increase. When compared to the first half of the previous year, when the group employed 108,996 staff, the number of employees has risen by more than 5,600.
"Emirates and dnata are continuously recruiting to meet their future needs," the group stated in a release on Thursday accompanying its H1 results. The Emirates Group also announced its highest-ever half-year financial performance, achieving a profit before tax of Dh10.4 billion, surpassing the previous year's record for the same period. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, emphasized that profits will be reinvested, including "taking care of employees" among other projects and initiatives.
"The group's robust profitability allows us to invest in what's necessary for sustained success. We're investing billions of dollars to introduce new products and services for our customers; to deploy advanced technologies and other innovative projects to drive growth; and to support our employees who work diligently to ensure our customers' safety and satisfaction," Sheikh Ahmed explained.
As reported by Khaleej Times in June, the Emirates Group announced a 4 percent increase in basic salary for its employees, following a record profit in the last fiscal year, as a reward for their efforts. Additionally, employees received a bonus equivalent to 20 weeks of their salary in June.
Emirates, flydubai, and other UAE carriers intensified their recruitment efforts post-Covid-19, as the aviation sector rebounded strongly. Most airlines have now either reached or surpassed their pre-pandemic levels. Emirates Airlines continued to grow its network and enhance connectivity through its Dubai hub in the first half of 2024-25, adding scheduled flights to eight new cities: Amsterdam, Cebu, Clark, Luanda, Lyon, Madrid, Manila, and Singapore.
