At the ABA Baking Arts Training Center in Sharjah, students from the Al-Thiqa Club for the Disabled participated in a one-day baking session, acquiring various skills. Under the tutelage of Chef Mohamed El Marouk, these aspiring bakers dedicated nearly five hours to mastering the art of cupcake making, starting from the very basics. The session offered a glimpse into their enjoyable day, as Chef Mohamed engaged the students with detailed explanations on the science behind melting chocolate, ensuring they grasped each concept through continuous demonstration of essential techniques.
After laying down the foundational skills, the students moved on to prepare cupcake batter, meticulously filling each mould. The workshop not only introduced them to new culinary techniques but also boosted their confidence in handling kitchen tools with accuracy. Fatema AlKibaly, a participant, expressed her excitement about the new tips she learned, particularly how to enhance flavors with orange zest in sugar. She plans to apply these techniques in her daily cooking and baking.
Teacher Hafiza Kaddoura highlighted the importance of such classes in equipping students with life skills, noting the diverse talents of the students. Chef Mohamed El Marouk reflected on the enriching experience, emphasizing the joy he finds in teaching and the satisfaction of seeing students succeed. Post-session, the students received certificates of achievement, and the ABA Baking Arts Training Center continues to offer a variety of classes in baking, breadmaking, and gelato crafting.
