England staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Slovakia 2-1 in their Euro 2024 round-of-16 match on Sunday, thanks to a late bicycle kick by Jude Bellingham that forced extra time, followed by Harry Kane's header for the win.
The English team struggled to gain control against a fiercely aggressive Slovakia side that started strong and continuously pressured their opponents. Slovakia took the lead in the 25th minute through an Ivan Schranz counter-attack goal. Despite Declan Rice's long-range shot hitting the post, England couldn't equalize until the fifth minute of stoppage time when Bellingham scored their first shot on target. Kane then secured victory with a header in the first minute of extra time.
England will now face Switzerland in the quarterfinals, after Switzerland eliminated defending champions Italy with a 2-0 victory on Saturday.
