While its release may not be imminent, Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone has confirmed that work on Haunted Chocolatier is resuming. The creator of Stardew Valley has shifted his focus back to this project after dedicating time to the 1.6 update of his popular farming simulation game.

Barone recently posted an update on the Haunted Chocolatier website, acknowledging the long gap since the last news. The delay was largely due to his commitment to Stardew Valley 1.6, followed by the need for bug fixes and console porting. Now, however, Haunted Chocolatier is set to take center stage.

'My next task will be to refine the existing framework until I'm satisfied, add all the remaining elements, and then populate it with all the content that will be required,' Barone wrote. 'Yes, it's still a massive undertaking, but I thrive on the challenge.'

Barone also mentioned that Haunted Chocolatier will be developed in a manner similar to Stardew Valley. 'I'm coding it (mostly from scratch) in C#, and I'm handling all aspects solo,' he explained. 'This approach works for me, both in terms of comfort and enjoyment, and it proved successful with Stardew Valley.' He added that while external technical assistance might be necessary in the future, the game will be largely complete before that becomes an issue.

Returning to Haunted Chocolatier after Stardew Valley 1.6 was always part of Barone's plan, a strategy he has maintained throughout this year. The RPG/simulation game, first announced over three years ago, will feature players residing in a haunted castle, with gameplay leaning more towards action-RPG elements compared to Stardew Valley.
