A federal decree to establish Erth Zayed Philanthropies was launched by President Sheikh Mohamed, as announced on Sunday. This foundation aims to uphold the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, marking a new chapter in the nation's philanthropic endeavors.
The foundation, also known as 'Erth Zayed', is headquartered in Abu Dhabi and will manage diverse programs across various sectors through collaborations with public and private entities. It will support the UAE's evolving role as a leader in global philanthropy, addressing the challenges of a more complex and interconnected world.
A wide range of high-impact projects in areas of local and international importance, such as global health, education, food and water security, energy, climate and sustainability, and social innovation, will be part of the foundation's initiatives. Additionally, Erth Zayed will integrate existing philanthropic efforts, including the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Emirates Foundation, Mohamed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, Sandooq Al Watan, Clean Rivers, the Global Institute for Disease Elimination, Zayed Sustainability Prize, Khalifa Award for Education, Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, and the Mohamed Bin Zayed Award for Best Teacher.
Overall, Erth Zayed Philanthropies will oversee these philanthropic foundations and awards, aiming to foster a shared vision and collaborative approach to philanthropy. By leveraging its resources, networks, and knowledge, it seeks to deliver transformative impacts to communities in need worldwide.
Speaking on the foundation's establishment, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Presidential Affairs, emphasized: "The launch of Erth Zayed Philanthropies underscores the UAE's continuous commitment to amplifying its global philanthropic influence. It signifies a strategic move to unite our humanitarian initiatives and philanthropic entities under a unified vision, enhancing their reach and effectiveness to create a positive global impact."
Sheikh Mansour also highlighted the significant focus of the UAE President on optimizing the impact of the country's humanitarian, charitable, and developmental projects, initiatives, and programs.
For his part, Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, stated: "Philanthropy and the spirit of giving have always been integral to the UAE's identity, deeply rooted in the enduring legacy of our Founding Father and the steadfast commitment of the UAE's President. This dedication is aimed at enhancing lives worldwide, ensuring well-being, empowering individuals, and continuously striving to promote the prosperity, security, and stability of communities."
He added, "Through Erth Zayed Philanthropies, we aim to make a lasting global impact that will resonate for generations, enriching the principles of solidarity and harmony, and strengthening cooperation and peace."
