Breaking news: Ethan Hunt is back, and this time, it's for the final showdown. After last year's adrenaline-pumping Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, fans have been eagerly anticipating how Tom Cruise's IMF agent will defeat the sinister AI known as The Entity. Since the first part only scratched the surface, we've all been on edge waiting for Part 2. Now, we know it's coming as Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. But does this title signify the end of this particular story, or could it mark the conclusion of Cruise's Mission: Impossible saga? Check out the trailer for hints.
The Mission films have always delivered, and The Final Reckoning seems no exception. This time, it appears the fate of the world rests in Ethan Hunt's hands. The trailer showcases stunning visuals, including the much-anticipated biplane chase (Cruise dangling from the spinning wing is jaw-dropping). We also see more submarine action from Dead Reckoning, along with ominous discussions of sacrifice and farewells. And, of course, Cruise runs—a lot, notably through London at night, which looks stunning. Would it be a Mission movie without a hefty dose of cardio? The trailer also features compelling team moments, with Hayley Atwell's Grace, Pom Klementieff's Paris, Greg Tarzan Davis's Degas, and, naturally, Ving Rhames's Luther and Simon Pegg's Benji.
Interestingly, much of the footage shows Ethan Hunt wearing the outfit Cruise donned during his Olympic roof abseil this summer. Was that stunt planned for The Final Reckoning? If so, it's a fittingly Tom Cruise move. Either way, this film promises to be thrilling and, hopefully, a roaring conclusion to Christopher McQuarrie's two-parter. And possibly, the end of Ethan Hunt's journey. We'll find out when Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning hits UK cinemas on 23 May. Get ready!
