Etihad Airways, the UAE's national carrier, has unveiled a fresh new livery on one of its aircraft, featuring the vibrant yellow and blue colors of the renowned Indian cricket team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The design was first showcased on an Airbus A320neo, marking the first time a UAE carrier has operated this model, which is 20% more fuel-efficient than its predecessors. This aircraft is slated to serve on Etihad's short-haul routes.
The inaugural flight of this specially designed aircraft is scheduled for December, with its destination being Chennai, the home base of CSK. To get a glimpse of this stunning aircraft, check out the video below. In February, Etihad cemented its partnership with CSK by becoming the official sponsor for the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League. The partnership launch ceremony, held in Chennai, was attended by thousands of enthusiastic fans.
Since the announcement of this collaboration, Etihad has been actively engaging with fans by introducing unique experiences, such as distributing bespoke whistles shaped like aircraft, encouraging fans to cheer for the players in the traditional CSK style, 'whistle podu'.
Etihad has a history of creating special liveries to commemorate its partnerships with global entities. Notable examples include the Manchester City FC livery in the club's signature blue and the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix livery. Additionally, Etihad has showcased a Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi livery featuring iconic DC Superheroes and Looney Tunes characters, as well as a unique 20th-anniversary livery on an Airbus A321neo, which highlights the famous landmarks of the Abu Dhabi skyline through a line-art drawing.
