Scottish pro Ewen Ferguson, currently residing in Dubai, is aiming to capitalize on his impressive track record in the UAE as he participates in the DP World Tour Play-Offs. This includes the $9 million Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links and the season-ending $10 million DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Currently ranked 32nd in the Race to Dubai, Ferguson is in high spirits and excellent form, prepared for the upcoming significant events. He has consistently performed well in the UAE and neighboring regions, having secured the 2022 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and finishing ninth in the 2022 DP World Tour Championship. This marks his third qualification for the season-ending tournament on the DP World Tour.
Ferguson has also participated in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championships in 2022 and 2023, making the cut comfortably on both occasions before it became part of the DP World Tour Play-Offs. He tied for 11th in the Dubai Invitational at the beginning of this year, nine shots behind fellow Dubai resident Tommy Fleetwood. Additionally, he tied for 23rd in this year's Ras Al Khaimah Championship at Al Hamra Golf Club, Ras Al Khaimah, and has been a consistent supporter of DP World Tour events in RAK over the years.
When asked why he chose Dubai as his base, Ferguson credited Jon Rahm for influencing his decision. After playing with Rahm at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Ferguson decided to move to Dubai as his primary home base. He currently resides in Dubai Marina through a company sponsorship and is looking to obtain a Dubai Golden Visa. Ferguson is a member at Jumeirah Golf Estates and is well-supported by the club's manager and team.
Ferguson has taken a brief break from the tour to prepare and recharge for the upcoming UAE events. His short-term goal is to secure his PGA Tour Card through the Top 10 available spots on the Race to Dubai, as well as to compete in more Majors. Currently in the 32nd spot on the Race to Dubai, he is focused on the significant points available in the next two weeks: 9,000 at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and 12,000 at the DP World Tour Championship.
Ferguson, a three-time winner on the DP World Tour, including this year's BMW International, is also ranked 132 in the Official World Golf Rankings. His mindset is clear: 'If I play well, the rest all takes care of itself.'
