Exodus, the inaugural title from Wizards of the Coast's Archetype Entertainment, has unveiled a fresh trailer featuring one of the game's most fearsome adversaries, narrated by Matthew McConaughey. McConaughey initially disclosed his participation in the project during last year's The Game Awards, where he announced the game. Now, we know the character he will portray in Exodus.
At the conclusion of the latest trailer, McConaughey introduces himself as C.C. Orlev, a figure described by Archetype as "EXODUS's self-proclaimed spokesman." As players delve into the game, they will uncover more about Orlev, a notorious inhabitant of the game's Centauri setting.
In the spirit of the Halloween season, the new trailer centers on a chilling type of Celestial known as the Mara-Yama. These adversaries, encountered in the void of space, blend physical and psychological horror. The sadistic Mara-Yama target isolated travelers in the desolate expanses of space, inflicting mental anguish while harvesting minds, memories, and emotions.
Exodus is a sci-fi RPG that delves into the concept of time dilation as the protagonist traverses space, with days of travel equating to decades on their home planet. As The Traveller, players are charged with pilfering alien technology and weapons from the Celestials, including the Mara-Yama featured in the trailer.
Archetype Entertainment, a new AAA studio formed by Wizards of the Coast, aims to develop fresh intellectual properties outside of Wizards' renowned D&D and Magic: The Gathering franchises. The studio boasts numerous former BioWare developers, including studio head James Ohlen.
Exodus remains without a release date but is slated for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
