The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has initiated a safety review of Southwest Airlines following a string of close call incidents that have sparked concerns, the airline announced on Tuesday.

The FAA stated on Saturday that it is examining a recent Southwest flight that flew at an unusually low altitude over Tampa Bay, Florida, marking the latest in a series of events that have prompted safety concerns. Southwest acknowledged the safety review on Tuesday and affirmed its collaboration with the FAA in reviewing recent occurrences. The airline also highlighted the establishment of a specialized team comprising experts, leaders, union representatives, and FAA personnel to enhance its current safety management system.

The FAA has yet to provide a comment on the matter.
