Earlier this summer, Fallout 76 dataminers uncovered hints that camp pets were on the horizon. With the Gleaming Depths update now live, players can finally welcome a Bombay Cat and a white German Shepherd into their camps. Although only one C.A.M.P. pet can be kept at a time, players can still enjoy interacting with their furry friends. This update marks Fallout 76's largest expansion yet, launching Season 19: The Scientific Forge, which centers around the Enclave, a once-powerful faction of the U.S. government now under the control of the AI supercomputer M.O.D.U.S. This season introduces mad-science weapons like the Tesla Cannon, the Enclave Lab Coat, and a M.O.D.U.S. Terminal Vending Machine for player camps. Additional items include the Enclave Grill Cooking Station and Enclave Hazmat Paint, plus a Plasma Core Recharger to save on plasma cores.

During the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft and Bethesda hinted at a Ghoul control feature coming in 2025, though it's not part of this update. The Gleaming Depths update also includes substantial balancing changes to various Perk Cards, aiming to enhance underperforming perks. Visual adjustments have been made to explosion effects without altering damage radii. NPCs will now use player weapons with balance adjustments, and defeated enemies may drop base versions of their weapons alongside junk items. Component yields from scrapping junk items have increased, and the rate of learning mods from scrapping weapons has risen by 10%.

The update continues the combat rebalancing initiated in the Skyline Valley patch, focusing on improving weapon performance. Damage for the Hellstorm Missile Launcher and other weapons has been increased, while AP costs have been reduced. Creature health, damage, and resistance adjustments have also been applied. Players will encounter an Accessibility Menu upon their first entry, offering new settings for Speech-to-Text, Screen Narration, and UI Navigation.
