A person has unfortunately passed away after getting caught in a running aircraft engine at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport, as confirmed by Dutch airline KLM on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, Dutch media had already reported on the incident, while the Dutch military police, Marechausse, mentioned in a tweet that they were conducting an investigation with regards to the matter.
The spokesperson for Marechausse told Reuters that the identity of the individual involved in the incident has not been established yet. Additionally, it was mentioned that it's too early to determine whether this was an 'incident' or a form of suicide. The spokesperson further indicated that all passengers and crew, who will play crucial roles as witnesses in the investigation, had safely disembarked from the aircraft.
KLM, a subsidiary of France-KLM, also released a statement confirming that they are in the process of investigating the incident.
