During The Game Awards 2024, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will launch on PC on January 23, 2025. The trailer did not provide any details about the PC system requirements, but pre-orders on Steam or the Epic Games Store come with a 30% discount until February 6. Similar to its predecessor, Final Fantasy VII Remake, there is no confirmation yet on whether the game will be available on Xbox. However, co-director Naoki Hamaguchi expressed his desire to bring the game to more platforms, starting with PC.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been nominated in six categories at The Game Awards 2024, including the prestigious Game of the Year award. Additionally, the game will not feature any downloadable content (DLC) as the development team aims to release the third installment of the remake trilogy as quickly as possible.

In GameSpot's review of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, it was noted that "Rebirth maintains its narrative focus on characters while introducing new combat elements, but it falters during key moments."
