The first image from the forthcoming Bruce Springsteen film, titled 'Deliver Me From Nowhere,' has been unveiled as filming commences on the first authorized Springsteen biopic. The photograph features 'The Bear' star Jeremy Allen White portraying The Boss in a film that focuses on the creation of Springsteen's 1982 album 'Nebraska.' The movie is an adaptation of Warren Zanes' book, directed by Scott Cooper, known for films such as 'Crazy Heart,' 'Black Mass,' and 'Antlers.' In a statement on Monday, Cooper expressed, 'Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album's raw, unvarnished portrayal of life's trials and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes' compelling narrative of Bruce's life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honoring Bruce's legacy in a transformative cinematic experience.'
Bruce Springsteen recently commented on Allen White's casting, telling The Telegraph that the actor was 'the right guy' for the role. 'I only had to see him on The Bear, and I knew he was the right guy, because he had that interior life, but he also had a little swagger,' Springsteen said. Jon Landau, Springsteen's longtime mentor and manager, added that playing The Boss would require White to 'depict a very interior person. There's always a tremendous amount going on, some of which gets articulated, and some of which is held back.' According to Variety, 'Succession's Jeremy Strong, who recently starred in the Donald Trump biopic 'The Apprentice,' is rumored to be playing Landau. Springsteen and Landau are closely involved in the production of the movie. 'Deliver Me From Nowhere' is slated for release next autumn.
