Five individuals were apprehended in Abu Dhabi for engaging in illegal falcon hunting, a joint operation conducted by the emirate's police and the city's environment authority. The group of offenders was discovered in the sandy expanse of North Khattam, where they were found to be monitoring the falcons' activities. According to the UAE's Federal Law No. 24 of 1999 concerning Environmental Protection, Development, and Modification, it is illegal to hunt, kill, or capture birds, wild, and marine animals without prior authorization from the relevant authorities. These animals can only be legally captured with permission from the specialized bodies.

Additionally, Law No. (22) of 2005, which governs wild hunting regulations in Abu Dhabi, explicitly forbids the hunting of animals, birds, and reptiles within the emirate unless sanctioned by the appropriate authority. This authority is responsible for designating fishing zones, specifying the permitted species for hunting, establishing hunting seasons, and regulating the tools and equipment used for such activities.
