Horror enthusiasts attending New York Comic Con in search of updates on Five Nights At Freddy's 2 were not left empty-handed. Although Blumhouse's continuation of the popular Five Nights At Freddy's film has yet to commence filming, attendees were presented with the first official poster for the sequel. Moreover, the studio announced that the release date is set for December 5, 2025.
For those unfamiliar, it might be tempting to assume that the menacing animatronic featured in the poster is none other than Freddy Fazbear. However, it is actually Toy Freddy, a significant character from the Five Nights at Freddy's 2 video game released in 2014. This aligns with earlier reports suggesting that the film sequel is drawing inspiration from the game that shares its title.
Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson are both confirmed to return as William Afton and Mike Schmidt, respectively. Additionally, Piper Rubio is expected to reprise her role as Mike's sister, Abby, and Elizabeth Lali will return as Vanessa, despite her character ending up in a coma at the conclusion of the previous movie.
Hutcherson hinted that the sequel will be much more terrifying than its predecessor, while Lillard shared with Collider that filming will begin in November. He also lauded the sequel's script as 'fantastic.' Director Emma Tammi will helm the sequel once again, working from a script she co-wrote with series creator Scott Cawthon and Seth Cuddeback.
